Jonathan Lawrence is a London based artist who specialises in the dystopian. Surreal touches can be found in his characters, often looking like robots or marionettes. Industrial forms mix with organic matter, jungles and flowers, city scapes and machinery, alternative realities and dark futures, natural forms and portraiture, Jonathan has a recognisable but versatile illustrative style.

After attending Demontfort University, Jonathan spent nearly 10 years in the music industry producing and Djing but his love of illustration never left. He continued working for independent record labels, designing artwork for the likes of EMI, Tough Luck records, Constant Circles and Hotflush Recordings.

Jonathan works with many mediums with a preference for intricate detail. He is particularly fond of working with graphite and ink.

The likes of Katsuhiro Otomo, Brian Bolland, Carlos Ezquerra sit alongside Dali, James Jean and Umberto Boccioni as some of his favourite artists. Other influences include writers J G Ballard, Philip K Dick, George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, William Gibson and Yevgeny Zamyatin.
